How was your Easter Weekend? My family and I attended church on Saturday night this year and I tell you what... I loved it. I was so surprised at how much I enjoyed it honestly.
We weren't rushed or hurried. We ate out as a family afterward. Then we hosted an impromptu family meal in the afternoon at our house on Sunday. 🐰
Today I wanted to offer a small heart checkup for you. 🧡 I want to encourage you to take a short inventory of your inner life. If not today, then in the coming days this month.
A beautiful woman on the outside is meager if there is a broken woman on the inside. In so many ways, our inner person is the most neglected piece of us. The thoughts, beliefs, motivations, and emotions that are going on inside of you shape your life more than anything.
Easter has become a reflection day for me, not only for the spiritual significance it holds. It marks the day on the calendar when I last spoke to my father. It has now been 4 years since we have talked.
Not a week goes by that I don't miss him in some small way. I also have come to realize that what I once believed was a weird childhood was in fact control and abusiveness at the hands of a master narcissist.
I have been to counseling. I have processed with friends. I have taken steps and prayed. I don't feel whole inside and I'm not sure I ever will. Creativity is a safe place for me to run to. I know that's why I pour myself into BTRIBALFIT so much.
As women, we cannot experience deep health and neglect our minds, hearts, and soul. We are wholly connected. In other words, our stories shape our shape.
So, if you are interested in some inner work 🙌🏼, I wanted to give you 3 questions you can process with yourself and a journal or with yourself and a friend.
I know that every story is unique. You may have 3 tiny kids at home and time for this exercise may seem impossible. But, for your long-term heart, I hope you will pursue some inner work in the coming days. Whether it's on a walk, over a cup of coffee, or sitting on a couch with a friend, invest in the heart-work that matters.

I was praised for self-silencing & applauded for shrinking Hi friend, For most of my life, I lived up to being a Good Girl. Not because I was naturally quiet or compliant — I was actually wild, brave, loud, and full of fire. But early on, I learned the unspoken rules: Be sweet.Be agreeable.Be polite.Be small. Every room taught me something about who I was “supposed” to be — as a daughter, as a woman, as a wife, and especially as a Christian. And I followed those rules so wellthat I forgot I...
The Unplugging: From Punishment (From Myself) (Series 2 of 5 — The Unplugging Series) Unplugging from punishment, learning (all over) how to move with love not fear. It started as my dad’s voice. Then the church’s.And somewhere along the way, it became my own. For most of my life, I didn’t realize how deeply I was plugged into punishment. It started with someone else’s voice — 🌬️ a dad who made fitness an idol, who equated beauty with approval, who demanded performance over peace. And...
